Ambassador awards Légion d’honneur to 19 Chelsea Pensioners at Founder’s Day parade at Royal Hospital Chelsea, in the presence of HRH The Duke of York.
On Tuesday 28 April, the French Ambassador to the UK, Sylvie Bermann, awarded the Légion d’Honneur to six British World War II veterans at a ceremony at the Yorkshire Air Museum in York.
François Andriot is one of the last surviving Free French soldiers who disembarked in Normandy in 1944 and helped liberate France from the Nazi occupation.
