4 Interdisciplinary Institutes to tackle the AI challenge [fr]
Within the framework of the national strategy for Artificial Intelligence, announced by the French President Emmanuel Macron on AI for Humanity day in March 2018, the French government has decided to create a network of Interdisciplinary Institutes for Artificial Intelligence (3IA).
These institutes, appointed by an international jury, have been set up in 4 French cities with specific topics:
- In Grenoble, "MIAI@Grenoble-Alpes" (health, the environment, energy) ;
- In Nice, "3IA Côte d’Azur" (health, territorial development) ;
- In Paris, "PRAIRIE" (santé, transport, environnement) ;
- In Toulouse "ANITI" (health, transport, the environment).
To complete the national AI research plan, and in parallel with the action of these institutes, two calls for proposals open to the entire scientific community will be launched soon, one regarding individual AI professorships, the other doctoral programmes.
Note that if you are interested in AI research, the Campus France catalogue for doctoral and research studies lists close to 50 available thesis subjects related to artificial intelligence.
