Ambassador meets Bishop Rachel Treweek to discuss gender equality and how to fight discrimination, extremism and poverty

French Ambassador Sylvie Bermann has met the Lord Bishop of Gloucester, the Rt Rev. Rachel Treweek, for talks at the French Embassy.
Bishop Rachel was the first woman to be appointed a diocesan bishop and the first female bishop in the House of Lords.
She is also an active champion for women’s rights as well as committed to tackling poverty.
The Ambassador said: “It was an honour for me to meet the Lord Bishop of Gloucester, the Rt Rev. Rachel Treweek. I was particularly keen to discuss the issue of equality and to hear her views on how to fight poverty and exclusion in today’s context.
"It was also good to hear her ideas about the role of the Anglican Communion in the fight against extremism, and to touch on other topics such as migration”.
