Armed Forces Minister visits India for jet handover ceremony and Defence Dialogue

Florence Parly, Minister for the Armed Forces, is visiting India today, Thursday 10 September 2020.
This morning she is attending the ceremony to hand over the first Rafale planes to the Indian Air Force.
Five Rafale planes will be officially handed over to India today, Thursday 10 September 2020, at Ambala air base. They are the first French planes to be delivered as part of the intergovernmental agreement signed on 23 September 2016 between the French and Indian Governments, consisting of the delivery of 36 Rafales in total.
The ceremony is a milestone in the relationship with India, a major strategic partner of France in the Indo-Pacific.
Following this Rafale “baptism” ceremony, the Minister will have a meeting with her counterpart, Mr Rajnath Singh, as part of the third Annual Defence Dialogue.
She will then have a meeting with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. These meetings will focus on developments in Franco-Indian defence cooperation and security challenges in the Indo-Pacific area, in the context of the health crisis./.
