Clément Beaune, Minister of State for Europe, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, recall the Government’s commitment to ensuring that it is fully implemented – Communiqué issued by the Ministry of Marine Affairs
Paris, 23 April 2021
Annick Girardin, Minister for Marine Affairs, and Clément Beaune, Minister of State for European Affairs, recall the need for firm, determined action from the European Commission to ensure that the fisheries agreement concluded at the end of December with the United Kingdom is fully implemented.
The complete issuing of licences to access British waters and the swift settlement of essential issues such as that of advanced bases must happen as soon as possible.
We shall act in a spirit of European solidarity and of cooperation with the United Kingdom, but the urgency of the situation requires collective efforts to be speeded up.
In accordance with the President’s commitments and the Prime Minister’s announcements, the fisheries sector support plan, which must be swiftly approved by the European Commission, will provide the fishing industry with the necessary guarantees to maintain its activity./.
