Consular Meeting 2014 [fr]
Representatives of the French network in the UK
London, 20 October 2014
On 17 October, Ambassador Sylvie Bermann hosted a working meeting at her London residence with honorary consuls and elected representatives of French citizens abroad.
Along with its two consuls general in London and Edinburgh, France has 23 honorary consuls throughout the United Kingdom.
The Ambassador stressed the importance of bilateral relations with the UK. She explained the priority areas and the upcoming events that will define the French network’s activity here in the coming months.
The honorary consuls play a crucial role in supporting the French authorities’ activity in the UK and act as prime movers for the Embassy on the ground, thereby contributing to France’s tight-knit network in this country. They may also be called upon to help those in need of assistance in their constituencies.
Olivier Cadic and Joëlle Garriaud-Maylam, the two senators representing French citizens abroad, were also in attendance.
