David Cameron welcomes François Hollande to Chequers
UK Prime Minister welcomes French President for wide-ranging talks at his country retreat
UK Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed President François Hollande on Tuesday 22 September, for a working dinner at his country residence, Chequers.
Talks were detailed and in-depth; there was close agreement and the two leaders reviewed their stances on Syria and Libya in particular.
On Syria, they expressed agreement on the need to work together to boost the political process.
The two leaders also discussed a range of other topics, including the migration crisis in Europe, Ukraine, EU reform and climate change, ahead of the Paris Climate Conference (COP21) in November.
Mr Cameron demonstrated his full commitment to the success of COP21 as well as this weekend’s efforts in New York, underlining the importance of the financial dimension.
The following morning, President Hollande planted an oak tree at Chequers in the presence of David Cameron.
