Euro 2016: a festival of football in France

With an estimated 2.5 million fans in stadiums and 7 million in fan zones in 10 towns and cities across France, Euro 2016 promises to be a celebration like no other

This summer France will be in the European football spotlight, when sport and festive spirit comes together in 10 of France’s magical towns and cities.

From 10 June, 24 international teams will play 51 matches in a bid to win the Euro 2016 trophy, with the final taking place on Sunday 10 July at the Stade de France, Paris.

For one month, the footballing fates of these 24 nations will be played out in stadiums in front of an estimated 2.5 million people. Seven million will be present in the dedicated fan zones, featuring concerts and giant screens that will broadcast matches live, while many more will visit France during the tournament to soak up the carnival atmosphere.

Home Minister Bernard Cazeneuve has given careful consideration to the security of Euro 2016, announcing unprecedented numbers of stewards, security guards, police and emergency services as well as investment in measures including CCTV to ensure the smooth and safe running of the tournament.

Games will take place in Paris, Saint-Denis, Lille, Lens, Lyon, Saint-Etienne, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Marseille and Nice with the tournament showcasing the very best of French hospitality and making it a wonderful place to visit this summer.
