Foreign Minister expresses support to Libyan PM in wake of attack

On 21 February, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Jean-Marc Ayrault spoke to Fayez Sarraj, Prime Minister of Libya and President of the Presidential Council, to express his support following the attack on Mr Sarraj’s convoy in Tripoli on 20 February.
M. Ayrault condemned that act and reiterated France’s full support for the Presidential Council and for the efforts to achieve a compromise among all Libyan political forces, in conjunction with the UN and the countries of the region.
The Foreign Minister also stressed France’s commitment to strengthening the presidential guard. In this regard, General Najmi Nakua, the commander of that force, will soon be visiting Paris./.
