France-UK intelligence ties to continue, says Minister
United Kingdom – Terrorist attack in London/fight against terrorism – Communiqué issued by the Ministry of the Interior
Paris, 5 June 2017
Gérard Collomb, Ministre d’Etat, Minister of the Interior, spoke on the telephone this morning to his British counterpart, Amber Rudd.
The Minister told Ms Rudd of France’s support following the terrorist attack that hit London on Saturday evening, just a few days after the bloody attack in Manchester, and expressed his sympathy with the victims of those barbaric acts. His thoughts go out especially to the French victims and their families. France was directly affected on Saturday, with one French fatality, seven injured and one person reported missing.
The Minister assured Ms Rudd that the close contacts forged by the French intelligence services and the British services will continue, to support the investigation and prevent new attacks. The fight against Daesh [so-called ISIL] is central to cooperation between France and the United Kingdom.
A visit by Gérard Collomb to London in the coming weeks, on Ms Rudd’s invitation, will provide an opportunity for the two ministers to discuss the specific details of this cooperation./.
