France and Chad want universal climate agreement at Paris conference

The President had a meeting at the Elysée Palace on Monday 5 October 2015 with Idriss Déby Itno, President of Chad.
They discussed regional issues together. They regretted the sharp deterioration in the CAR’s security situation and reaffirmed their support for the transitional authorities and for the elections to continue being prepared. They welcomed the progress made by the region’s countries in the fight against Boko Haram and called for regional cooperation in the fight against terrorist groups to continue.
The two heads of state expressed their wish for a universal climate agreement at the Paris conference in December 2015 and together discussed the challenges posed by the future of Lake Chad.
Finally, the French President paid tribute to Chad’s efforts to establish a relationship of trust with the international financial institutions. He expressed his wish for the country to continue with its economic reforms and with strengthening its institutions, particularly through a transparent, legitimate election process./.
