France condemns murder of Syrian rescue workers
Syria – Attack on humanitarian workers – Statement by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs Spokesperson
Paris, 12 August 2017
France condemns the murder of seven Syrian rescue workers from the White Helmets organization at their headquarters in the Idlib region. It extends its condolences to their loved ones and to their volunteer comrades, working to help civilians hit by, among other things, bombardments. These humanitarian workers act in a spirit of neutrality towards all the warring parties and the victims of the conflict. At this painful time, France reiterates its support to them and to all humanitarian actors, particularly the United Nations agencies, in their response to the Syrian people’s needs.
France supported the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2286 on the protection of humanitarian workers, particularly those providing medical treatment./.
