France was shocked to learn of the death of Idriss Déby Itno, President of Chad, announced on Tuesday 20 April 2021. It extends its heartfelt condolences to President Déby Itno’s family and all Chadian people. Chad loses a great soldier and a president who worked continuously for the security of the country and the stability of the region for three decades. France loses a courageous friend.
