France remains Côte d’Ivoire’s number one bilateral donor

The French President had a meeting with Alassane Ouattara, President of Côte d’Ivoire, at the Elysée Palace on 16 June 2015.
They noted that the programmes set up for the Debt Reduction-Development Contract were running well and that France remained the number one bilateral donor in Côte d’Ivoire and the leading economic partner. Six hundred and forty French companies are present in Côte d’Ivoire, accounting for a third of the gross domestic product.
The two heads of state welcomed the reopening of the Jean Mermoz lycée in Abidjan.
The two heads of state discussed forthcoming developments in Côte d’Ivoire. The French President drew his counterpart’s attention to the fight against impunity.
They expressed their solidarity with Chad following the N’Djamena attacks. They discussed the situation in Mali and called for the peace agreement to be implemented sincerely.
They welcomed their common views on international issues and on preparations for COP21./.
