France warns of threat posed by North Korean actions
North Korea – Ballistic missiles – Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development Spokesperson
Paris, 9 July 2016
Reports currently being verified say a ballistic device has been tested from the sea by North Korea.
If the reports are confirmed, this would be a further violation by North Korea of the Security Council resolutions which ban it from all activity linked to ballistic missiles. France calls for the full, verifiable and irreversible dismantling of North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic programmes, which are a threat to regional stability and international peace and security.
France emphasizes the need for full implementation of the Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2270, and recalls the autonomous sanctions adopted by the European Union in response to the nuclear test in January and the [rocket] launch in February 2016. It is working with its partners and the international community to provide an appropriate response to North Korea’s repeated destabilizing actions./.
