The French President spoke on the telephone to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Ms Liz Truss, today, 10 September 2022.
President Macron again extended his condolences to the whole British people following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. On the French people’s behalf he expressed their sadness, in unison with that of their British neighbours.
The conversation also provided an opportunity for the President to congratulate the Prime Minister on her appointment. The two leaders recalled the close, historic ties uniting France and the United Kingdom, and their desire to strengthen them even further. They expressed their wish to cooperate closely in the face of shared challenges, beginning with support for Ukraine and responses to the conflict’s consequences on food insecurity and energy prices.
