Minister condemns vehicle attack on soldiers in Paris
Fight against terrorism – Attack on soldiers from Operation Sentinelle in Levallois-Perret – Communiqué issued by the Ministry for the Armed Forces
Paris, 9 August 2017
At about 8.00 a.m. today, a vehicle hit some soldiers from Operation Sentinelle on patrol in Levallois-Perret [northwest Paris]. Six soldiers from the 35th Infantry Regiment in Belfort were injured, three of them more seriously, although their lives are not in danger.
The perpetrator is on the run and the security forces are conducting an intensive search for him. The investigation under way will reveal his motives and the circumstances in which he acted.
Florence Parly, Minister for the Armed Forces, utterly condemns this cowardly act, which in no way affects soldiers’ determined efforts to ensure French people’s safety.
She lends her full support to those injured, their comrades and their families.
Together with Interior Minister Gérard Collomb, she will visit their bedsides in the course of the day./.
