Paris seeking release of Frenchwoman held in Iran
Iran – Situation of Ms Fariba Adelkhah – Reply by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to a written question in the Senate
Paris, 4 February 2021
French diplomacy is actively engaged in finding a positive outcome to the situation of our compatriot Fariba Adelkhah, sentenced to six years’ imprisonment and held in Iran for more than a year.
Since 3 October she has benefited from house arrest with her family in Tehran, monitored by means of an electronic tag. This is an important first step. The aim of our efforts is now to enable her to regain full and complete freedom as quickly as possible.
The French President and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs are fully determined to continue their bilateral initiatives and public appeals, with a view to achieving this result./.
