President calls for Franco-Cambodian cooperation to be expanded

The President received Mr Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, for a meeting.
He recalled the historic, human ties uniting France and Cambodia.
He underlined how important it is for the political dialogue between the different political groups to continue in an atmosphere of calm following the agreement reached in July 2014, and for the reforms to go on being implemented.
The Head of State signalled France’s desire to support Cambodia on the path to development and democracy, with due regard for human rights. He called for our cooperation to be expanded, particularly in the economic sphere. Several agreements are going to be signed between Cambodia and the French Development Agency. France is the second-largest bilateral donor in Cambodia. The President welcomed the Cambodian community’s contribution to our economy and emphasized the link formed by Francophony.
He thanked Cambodia for its contribution to United Nations peacekeeping operations, particularly in Mali, the Central African Republic and Lebanon.
Finally, he reiterated the vital need to secure a climate agreement in Paris, with Cambodia being one of the countries in the world most affected by climate disruption./.
