President joins German, Italian and Romanian leaders on visit to Ukraine

President Emmanuel Macron went to Ukraine today, Thursday. He was accompanied by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.
The visit further illustrates European unity in the support provided to Ukraine.
The four leaders began their visit in Irpin, one of the Kyiv districts devastated in the first weeks of the Russian invasion.
The four leaders then held a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The discussion focused on how to continue addressing Ukraine’s needs. They also spoke in depth about Ukraine’s application to join the European Union, which should be the focus of discussions at the European Council of 23 and 24 June./.
