The "Etudes en France" procedure [fr]

Non-EU students residing in the UK must now use the Etudes en France procedure either to apply for a degree program in a French higher education institution or to submit a pre-consular file as part of the student visa application process.

The application step

Students use Etudes en France as a platform to apply to one or more degree programs in French higher education institutions. Applicants will be interviewed by a Campus France advisor to discuss their academic project.

Pre-Consular Step

Students who have been admitted through the Etudes en France application process as well as those who have been selected by an institution outside of Etudes en France must complete a pre-consular file. Campus France verifies the nature of the program and is responsible for ensuring that each applicant meets the criteria for a student visa.

Categories of students concerned by the Etudes en France procedure

DAP applicants (Demande d’admission préalable)

Students using Etudes en France to apply for entry into a French university at the first year of Bachelor (L1). These applicants may apply to up to three L1 programs using a single application.

Non-DAP applicants

Students who use Etudes en France to apply to a French institution at the Licence 2, Licence 3 or Master’s level. These applicants may apply to a maximum of seven programs using one file (4 if students have already made 3 DAP choices).

Exchange programs and double degrees

Students who are on a mobility program of more than 90 days as part of a cooperation agreement between their British institution and a French institution will fill up a pre-consular file. You can check our list of Franco-British dual degrees

Pre-consular files

Students who have been admitted via a parallel procedure to a degree program in France will also have to create a pre-consular file on Etudes en France. This could be a FLE (French as a Foreign Language) program, an art or gastronomy program, etc.

Doctoral students

Doctoral students who are enrolled as students in a French institution for research purposes may apply for a study visa. These students must first create a pre-consular file on Etudes en France based on the admission letter sent by the French institution.
